However, living in the Philippines is not for everyone.
It’s a tropical country where the prospects of landing a good job are limited to major cities like Cebu and Manila, and even then the salaries are only a fraction of the salaries in the West. So, unless if you have a steady source of income elsewhere like your pension, your investment portfolio or an Internet-based business, you shouldn’t live in the Philippines.
The Philippines is also a good place to live in for older men who are seriously looking for life partners, or men who are married to Filipina women and are about to (or want to) retire.
According to the US Department of State, there are currently over 250,000 US citizens living in the Philippines (as of October 2007), with majority of them based either in Manila or Cebu.
One of these Americans is Rusty Ferguson.

Rusty is an Internet Marketer who lives in Bogo, Philippines. He has written a definite guide (updated ten times to date) simply called the “Basic Expat Training Manual: Moving To The Philippines” for people who want to become an expatriate on this side of Pacific paradise.
From getting a visa to keeping your US address even when your real address is in the Philippines, he shares everything with would-be expatriates. Heck, he even shares tips on how to flirt with local Filipina women, which really isn’t an easy thing to do.
If you get his guidebook now you can get his telephone number in the Philippines so you can get in touch with him as soon as you’re in the Philippines.
